The Willie Gary Law Firm Files $1 Billion Lawsuit
against Durham County LME, Wake County LME,
Five County LME, Mecklenberg County LME and
Value Options, Inc. for Negligent and Intentional Misconduct against Mental Health Agency

The Firm Announced a Plan of Action on Behalf of their
Client, Joel Hopkins, President and CEO of Dominion
Healthcare Services, Inc. and its 1000 Employees

Durham, NC (January 23, 2008) – Willie Gary’s law firm announced today that they have filed a lawsuit on behalf of their client, Joel Hopkins President and CEO of Dominion Healthcare Services, Inc. of North Carolina.  The suit was filed to expose the misconduct and wrongdoings of Durham County LME, Wake County LME, Five County LME, Mecklenberg County LME and Value Options, Inc.

The lawsuit contends that Durham County LME, Wake County LME, Five County LME, Mecklenberg County LME and Value Options, Inc. played an integral role in the deception and scheme to dismantle, destroy and drive Dominion Healthcare Services, Inc. out of business.  Furthermore, the actions of Value Options, Inc. and the North Carolina LMEs have caused over $100 million in damages, to date.

“Our client, Dominion Healthcare Services, has served North Carolina and its residents by providing desperately needed mental health care to thousands,” said Gary.  “Value Options is a multi-billion dollar corporation that maliciously withheld money from Dominion Healthcare in an effort to put them out of business.  Our client, Joel Hopkins is no stranger to hard work and sacrifice.  Hopkins built a company that was projected to be valued at over a half-billion dollars within the next five or so years.  Durham County LME, Wake County LME, Five County LME, Mecklenberg County LME and Value Options, Inc. needed to place the blame on someone and it’s falling on the shoulders of poor people with mental challenges.  This case is about putting budgetary constraints over the mental health needs of the poor and voiceless.  It isn’t right and we will not stand for it,” continued Gary.

Gary is no stranger to justice.  He is noted for winning a $240 million jury verdict in Orange County Florida against the Walt Disney Corporation for their clients who alleged Disney stole their idea for a sports theme park.  Also, Gary was awarded $18 million, Florida’s largest jury verdict of its kind, against the media conglomerate Gannett Company for the false portrayal of their client in a series of newspaper articles.  In 2001, a jury awarded Gary a $139.6 million verdict for the Maris Distributing Company against Anheuser Busch.  In addition, Gary was given a half-billion dollar verdict in Jackson, Mississippi against the Loewen Group, a large Canadian funeral home chain.

Willie Gary knows better than anyone that tough times never last but tough people do. Growing up in a poor migrant family, Gary beat the odds to become a multi-millionaire nationally renown attorney, who is known for giving back to the less fortunate.

Gary keeps rising out of the shack he and his ten sisters and brothers shared. Gary  was the first black male to go to college from the small town of Indiantown where his family labored in the cane fields. He still remembers the tiny shack where he lived in the Silver City settlement of Pahokee, Florida. Gary often drives by the shack with a clear vision of those times.

Gary, Williams, Finney, Lewis, Watson & Sperando, P.L., is headquartered in the Waterside Professional Plaza, a historic art-deco landmark on the St. Lucie River in Stuart.

Gary bought the building in 1988 and executed $3 million in renovations to the property. The firm's Ft. Pierce offices are on the Intercostal Waterway, just south of the Fort Pierce inlet.
