Willie E. Gary, Prominent Attorney and Chairman of the Black Family Channel, Serves as Keynote Speaker at the Albany NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet in Albany, Georgia

Stuart, FL-- Willie E. Gary, prominent attorney and chairman of the Black Family Channel, recently served as the keynote speaker at the Albany NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet in Albany, Georgia. Gary was also presented with a key to the city of Albany, Georgia, and honored with the NAACP Milestone Award.               

Gary addressed an audience of over 200 attendees consisting of college students and NAACP members including business and political leaders, during the NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet. The theme for the evening was “The 1965 Voting Rights Act: Reflection 40 Years After.” Gary applauded the accomplishments of the NAACP and spoke of how tirelessly the organization works to protect the rights of African Americans. During the event, Gary was honored with a NAACP Freedom Fund Award for his achievements including his contributions to the education and advancement of young African Americans across the country. In addition, Mayor Willie Adams, Jr. honored Gary by presenting him with a key to the city of Albany, Georgia.   

“I was honored to speak to a group so dedicated to equality and so driven to make the world a better place, said Gary. “We all need to lead by example by helping those less fortunate, providing guidance for our young people and working hard to build stronger communities,” Gary continued.                 

Gary, who is best known in legal circles for taking on some of America’s most powerful companies--winning billions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. Gary is also the Chairman of the Black Family Channel, America’s only minority owned and operated, 24-hour cable network. Known for his philanthropic endeavors, he and his wife, Dr. Gloria Gary, founded The Gary Foundation, which provides college scholarships to at-risk students who wish to attend college. The Gary’s have donated millions of dollars to help Historically Black Colleges and Universities – including $10 million to his alma mater Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
